NEWSLETTER FOR FIRST TERM 2020/2021 SESSION

First, I thank Almighty God who in his infinite mercy, made us stay safe from the dreaded covid-19 Tsunami which swept across the globe and, vampire like, sucked the blood of millions of people thus sending them to their early graves. For this and many more, we are grateful to God.

APPRECIATION

We the management, staff and students of Lagooz Schools jointly appreciate you, our able and esteemed parents/guardians, who did not abandon us during those trying and uncertain periods of the pandemic. Your understanding, contributions and quick financial and other responses motivated us and sustained our confidence, especially during the VLC teaching periods. You gave us the hope that we really needed to keep the academic process going. Again, when schools finally resumed, you made us proud by retaining us as the best choice for your children’s academic and moral upbringing.  Bringing your children back to Lagooz in spite of apprehensions in the public domain concerning the virus gave us the support to kick start the first term 2020/21. God will reward you abundantly.

PAYMENT OF SCHOOL FEE.

Regarding your response to payment of school fees, we are also grateful to you. Although the pandemic hit very hard on the economy, and had grave nauseating consequences on the income of individuals, you still made provision for payment of school fees.

We appreciate you immensely and pray that God will enlarge your financial coasts. However, if you still have outstanding payments you agreed with the school authorities by way of promise, we expect that you comply accordingly. For payment of fees next term, make the payment ON or BEFORE resumption in January 2021, according to our policy.

SSCE/NECO EXAMINATIONS

Prior to the two examinations, SSCE/NECO, the UTME (JAMB) had been completed and the result published. This was before the global pandemic. A Lagooz student, Omeche Tochukwu, scored  307 out of 400 marks. Many others scored qualifying marks, very close to his.

Again, in the SSCE result, the students performed creditably even when the fear of the pandemic was everywhere during the examination .NECO has just been concluded, and we expect an excellent outcome as usual.

THE VLC

You would have realized by now that, as a matter of policy, we have infused VLC into our curriculum. Since we have integrated it into our learning system, we encourage parents/guardians to provide smartphones for the learners and encourage them to participate in the VLC classes. It is a new normal and has become the order of the day in many countries of the world.

BOARDING FACILITY

The school hostels offer the boarding students a better opportunity to run away from time-consuming distractions at home, and concentrate on their studies. Also, they are alienated from the hustle and bustle of Lagos metropolis and streets which attract attention and eat up time.

There are separate hostels for boys and the girls, and they are well –equipped and wholesome. They are fed with sumptuous African delicacies. In addition, there are resident hostel personnel employed to supervise the day-to-day activities of the students in the various hostels. Resident nurses and visiting doctors take care of their health. In fact, it is an opportunity you should provide for your child.

Please contact the school principal for more information on this.

SCHOOL UNIFORMS AND TEXTBOOKS

The school frowns at a situation where students/pupils wear worn out, torn or tight school uniforms to school. It is an eyesore for a student/pupil to appear drab and in an unauthorized uniform within the school premises. Therefore, parents are encouraged to ensure that their children appear resplendent in their uniform by purchasing new uniforms from the school.

Most importantly, some students do not have the recommended textbooks. This makes it difficult for such students to revise at home or do their homework. Parents should, as a matter of urgency, buy textbooks for their children. Textbooks will be inspected next term.

SEND-FORTH/VALEDICTORY SERVICE

The valedictory service/send-forth of the students of 2019/2020 session has just been concluded. We appreciate all of you who honored that annual celebration and also contributed to its success. Second term resumes on 11th January, 2021. I wish you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
