MID-TERM   NEWSLETTER FOR THIRD TERM 2013/2014 SESSION

This is the middle of the third and final term of 2013 /2014, and we appreciate God for leading us thus far, and successfully too.

APPRECIATION

We also appreciate you, parents / guardians, for your numerous contributions which facilitated our achievements within half of this term. Your quick and wise response to issues including your  cooperation and partnership have in various forms constituted a milestone to the advancement of Lagooz Schools. We are indeed, grateful to you and pray that God will richly bless you.

SCHOOL FEE.

This is another area where many parents /guardians proved themselves worthy by their capacity to pay for one year in advance or complete payment of fees for one term. We also appreciate those who paid according to the demands of the school, that is On or before the reopening date. To all of you, we say a big thank you’ We also encourage you to rise to the occasion as you have always done to enable the management plan for logistics ahead of the reopening day. Therefore, we still require payment on or before reopening date at the beginning of each term.

Parents are hereby reminded that it is FORBIDDEN for Nursery and Primary pupils to bring money to school on any ground. Parents can pay for school lunch and fruits.

BOARDING / HOSTEL FACILITIES

The School hostels are still intact. Students live happily and enjoy the modern facilities provided by the school for their comfort. Seminars and skill- acquiring co-curricular activities that are transformational are taught to them, especially in this age when it is mandatory for this young generation to be computer literate. For the sake of physical fitness, the boarding students are exposed to aerobics. Boarding students are served healthy and life-giving food for fast physical and mental growth. There is a school clinic right in the hostel although serious illness is referred to the school hospital.

EXTERNAL EXAMINATIONS

So far this term, our students have taken the following external examinations:

            i. JSSCE for JSS3 Students

            ii. SSCE for SS3 Students

iii. UTME (JAMB) for SS3 Students

            iv. NECO for SS3 Students

They are all graduating examinations that will take them to new levels of education. In all, the examinations were hitch-free.

EXTERNAL COMPETITIONS

The school has always seen the need to engage in the external competitions with other schools. This term, the students engaged in external competitions, some of which were conducted at L.G.A, state and national levels. Such competitions include the following.

            i . Cowbell Mathematics Competition

ii. Debate organized by young bankers

iii. Interactive session at Jellylas School among others.

Lagooz students performed creditably in each case.

SKILL ACQUISTION

We have embarked on massive skill-acquisition programme both in the primary and secondary sections of Lagooz, and it is mandatory for each pupil / student to acquire these skills which include:

            i. Soap making

            ii. Photography

iii. Baking (bread, snacks, cakes etc)

            iv. Fishery

            v. Bead stringing

            vi. music / musical instruments

There are lots more to be introduced to prepare the pupils / students for the competitive world ahead of them. Gainful employment does not hinder the knowledge of certain skills that can be practised as  part-time.

Once more, I thank you exceedingly for believing in our capacity to give your children quality education that can transform their lives for good. We shall resume from mid-term break on Monday 16th June, 2014. Be blessed.

Chief / Mrs E.O.Otubela
