RESOLUTIONS OF MEETING WITH PARENTS OF GRADE 6, JSS3, AND SS3 STUDENTS HELD ON SAT, JULY 9, 2023

posted on 6/8/2023

.

The following resolutions were arrived at during the meeting with the parents of learners in Grade 6, JS3, and SS3 held on Saturday, 8th July 2023. The essence of the meeting was for the parents to be well-acquainted with relevant information about the examinations ahead and also involved in the planning process for the benefit of the children.

1.  The Forthcoming Lagooz  Summer School has been made compulsory for the students in the classes as follows; SS3, JS3, and Grade 6. The summer school will run for 4 weeks starting from 31st July - August 25th August 2023.

2.  Parents are to ensure active participation of their children in preparatory classes organised by the school. This is needed to achieve top performance. They shall also take a Benchmark test to assess the academic ability during the summer school.

3.    As part of the preparations, the students will be made to sit for 3 different mock examinations equivalent to the standard of their Common Entrance for Pry 6, BECE for JS3, and WASSCE/ JAMB for SS3.

4.    The first mock examination will come up in October 2023. The second Examination in the second term will hold in January 2024, while the final one will be in March 2024.

5.    Furthermore, the first mock examination hold strictly for the students in JS3 & SS3 only while the second and third mock examinations will involve the Pry 6, JS3 & SS3 students.

6.  The children will be needing all their working materials to ensure effective preparations. Specified Materials are;

i.   All Past Questions in various subjects, for Pry 6, Ugo C Ugo, in 3 parts of English, Mathematics, and Vocational Studies. For JS3, Awka, and Lasswell .
For SS3, they will buy past questions for JAMB, and WAEC which should include all subjects to be taken by the students during the examinations.

ii.     The school is reminding parents of the need to pay the stipulated fees of N2,000 for their children  test driller which can be downloaded into their laptops or phones as part of the materials to be needed in all classes. Particularly, It is compulsory for students in primary 6, JS3, and SS3.

7.     The school  announced the fees structure to be paid by  JSS 3 and SS3 students only as follows;

i.      The first term to include all examination fees and their school fees for first and hostel fees,

ii.      For 2nd term, they will be paying hostel fees, 2nd term fees, and 3rd term fees and examination fees.

iii.    While in 3rd term, they will only be paying only their hostel fees.

8.     The children will be bringing the bill  on Thursday. Parents should start to make plans to make payments even if it is on installments so that fees will not be an emotional setback for the children on their resumption to school.

9.     There is a need for students to have their learner's notes. This will reduce the wastage of productive time in writing notes which can be converted to engaging more in-class exercises.  The school, therefore, is planning to make hard copies of their notes available so that they don't need to write again. But they will only jot salient point and take written exercises.

10.     There will be preparatory classes for learners in the morning by 7 am and afternoon.

11.   There will be compulsory hostel accommodation for JSS 3 and SS3 Students so that they can always be available whenever their teachers want to teach them. For grade 6, it's optional due to their young nature.

12.    School bus services will not be available for students in SS3 at all. This is because no matter how the school organises the bus, the school bus cannot meet up with the timing both in the morning and afternoon.

13.  The students will officially move into the hostel by the first term precisely on 3rd September 2023. However, parents who do not have a place to keep their children can bring them to the hostel during the summer school. They should make arrangements with the school to provide a space for them.

14.  Special consideration for the parent who requested to be bringing his child to school from home will be granted, provided the child will always be punctual and timely in all scheduled lessons.

15.   The proprietor advised that any form of skill acquisition can come up later but currently, all children should focus more on the academic aspect of their education. When they get to JS1, they can do skill acquisition, and when JS3 students proceed to SS1, they can engage in skill acquisition. So considering the enormity of the examinations ahead of them, a lot of time is needed for them to focus on their academics.

16.   The parents have been advised to make their children available at all times for learning.

Thank you, as we look forward to your maximum cooperation in achieving huge success in all the external examinations.

Signed
Lagooz PTA & Management
